Emergencies

For emergencies in or around the harbour and coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.  At sea, call Humber Coastguard, VHF Ch.16.

Wells Harbour Commissioners are changing the way the car park located on the quayside will be operated.

A new ticketless car park barrier system has been installed. The existing tariffs will not change – £5 all day or £1 after 6pm until midnight. The restrictions on no overnight parking, no campervans or motorcycles also remain in force.

The new system works like many other car parks around the country;

  • A sign next to the car park entrance will tell you if there are spaces or not.
  • The barrier will not raise if the car park is full and no waiting is allowed.
  • If there are spaces, please drive into the car park entrance. As you approach the barrier, the system will take a photo of your car registration number plate and the barrier will rise.
  • Once you have parked, you are free to pay at anytime before you wish to exit the car park. Commonly known as ‘Pay on Foot’. If you have not paid, the barrier will not open.
  • The pay station is located by the car park exit.
  • The pay station will accept contactless card payments, normal card payments and cash – notes and coin.
  • To pay, please enter your car registration number into the pay station – the system will recognise your number plate as you start to type it into the machine. You will then be able to choose the method of payment. Once paid you will be offered a payment receipt otherwise no other ticket will be issued.
  • Once you have paid, you are able to leave the car park – as you approach the barrier it will recognise your car registration number plate to check you have paid and it will rise accordingly.
