Commemorating D-Day: 80th Anniversary Event at Port of Wells

As the world pauses to honour the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the Port of Wells is set to host a poignant commemoration event on Thursday 6th June 2024. This significant occasion will bring together the community to remember and pay tribute to the brave souls who took part in the historic landings of 6th June 1944.

The evening will begin with a ceremonial event at 8:30 PM at Wells Quay. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics and chairs, making it a comfortable and communal experience along the picturesque quayside. The highlight of the evening will be the lighting of the harbour beacon at 9:15 PM, a symbolic act of remembrance. However, this is weather dependent, so fingers crossed for clear skies!

This event is not just a remembrance but a chance for the community to come together, reflect on the past, and honour those who fought for our freedom. Join us for a memorable evening at Wells Quay, where history and community spirit will shine brightly.
