Emergencies

For emergencies in or around the harbour and coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.  At sea, call Humber Coastguard, VHF Ch.16.

The Outer Harbour is a purpose built facility to support large commercial vessels servicing Sheringham Shoal Windfarm.  To create this facility the harbour entrance channel was deepened to extend the times that small-draft workboats for windfarm workers and crews can enter and leave the harbour, in particular for morning and early evening entrance on neap tides. The deepened channel runs from No 1 and 2 to just east of the lifeboat house. The Outer Harbour with 165m of shore accessed pontoon berths with all associated services, including fuel, fresh water and electricity, began operating in 2010.  Every day, weather permitting, 12 fully trained and skilled technicians use the harbour to visit the wind farm and carry out planned maintenance activities.
